DRIVING
From Asheville, North Carolina
Take 19/23 North (a.k.a. US 26 West) towards Weaverville (approx. 10 miles). Take exit 19A (Marshall/Hot Springs) at Weaverville, and follow 25/70 North towards Marshall/Hot Springs.
Go approximately 7 miles on 25/70. After a 1 mile long down hill stretch and long concrete bridge, proceed up the hill and turn left onto Ivy River Rd towards Marshall (look for the green sign to Downtown Marshall on your right before the turn-off and a light pole on your left at Ivy River Road).
Go one mile to a stop sign at a T intersection of Ivy River Rd and the divided Highway 251. Go straight across the road to another stop sign. Take a left onto Highway 251 and go over the bridge over the Ivy River. Continue heading south along the French Broad River (on your right) towards Asheville.
After approximately 1 mile, you will find Panhandle Rd. (look for white PRAMA sign on the left at the corner of Panhandle Rd. and Hwy 251) and take a left. Drive up Panhandle Road for about 0.6 miles (you will pass Ananda Girisuta Drive on the right) and turn right at a T section onto South Panhandle Rd (paved road).
Go 0.2 miles and turn right onto Catawba Dr. (dirt road). Follow the road for about 1 mile. You will see an abandoned shack on your right and a private driveway on right. Shortly afterwards, a yellow Prama sign will tell you to curve to the right. Keep going up hill and you will see a white trailer on left. On top of this hill, you will see two round houses and a private driveway on left. Keep going until the road curves right again. (you will see a green roofed house at end of private driveway on left). After another 200 yards or so, you must turn right and go up a small hill and down the other side. After 100 yards downhill, you will see Prama Institute’s parking lot on your left. The main Prama Institute dome building will be visible from the parking lot. Park and walk up to the dome on the knoll, entering the front door with a porch on the right side of the dome.
From Winston Salem (on I-40 West)
From I-40 West, take 240 West as you enter Asheville (Exit 53B), then take Exit 4A (19/23 North or I-26 West) towards Weaverville. Then follow the directions from Weaverville above.
From Knoxville (on I-40 East)
From I-40 East, take 240 East as you enter Asheville, then take Exit 4A (19/23 North or I-26 West) towards Weaverville. Then follow the directions from Weaverville above.
From Johnson City, Tennessee
Go south on Hwy. 23 (I-26 East) for approximately 50 miles to Mars Hill and take Hwy. 213 west for 15 miles. At the T intersection of 213 and 251, take a left onto Hwy. 251 South. Go 5 miles and take a left onto Panhandle Rd. Then follow the directions from Panhandle Rd. above.
From Spartanburg, South Carolina
Go East/North on I-26 for 60 miles to Asheville and take I-240 East. Then turn off I-240 (left turn) at Exit 4A (19/23 North or I-26 West) to Weaverville. Then follow the directions from Weaverville abov
