The first school was started in 1979, the year that Jamaica was visited by the founder of Ananda Marga Gurukula, Shrii Shrii Anandamurti.
The school started with five students and grew and moved location. Now it is a primary school up to grade six with 172 children located in the center of Kingston, the capital city of Jamaica. The school is outstanding for its good and safe moral base and yoga lifestyle principles. Acarya Giitisudhananda from India has been the principal for the last fifteen years and has dreams to expand it to new facilities.
The Ananda Marga Kindergarten is presently run by Didi Ananda Devaprana. There are 70 children in Nursery and Kindergarten 1 and 2. There are spacious rooms with lots of light, and decorated walls, making the atmosphere very pleasant. The school was established in 1981 and has a good reputation and community support. The teachers and children enjoy their time together. A proud mother happily told about her daughter graduating from this school and now studying in the USA.
