Human civilization is passing through a critical period. Destruction of nations and communities does not require only the use of atom bombs or long-range missiles. Lowering the standard of moral education contributes greatly to the collapse of social organizations. The lack of moral and spiritual leadership, therefore, is the greatest need of our times. Patients die at the hands of doctors who lack a moral sense. Buildings collapse in the hands of such engineers who are motivated by mere self-interest. Justice is lost in the hands of such judges who compromise with rules of ethics. Humanity dies at the hands of such religious scholars who stick to dogmatic beliefs and avoid reason. Even a drop of immortality destroys the edifice of established institutions. The loftiest edifices require the strongest foundations. Ananda Marga Gurukula’s core mission is to focus on creating moral and spiritual leaders for tomorrow. In the words of our Revered Founder, the purpose of Gurukula is “to serve humanity with neohumanist spirit and to acquire knowledge for that purpose.”
