Master Unit Ananda Uma, Vietnam

When You Feel It is Good, Do it Immediately!
By Citrá Trần Thúy Ngọc – Mar 30, 2025

There’s a famous yogic saying which goes like this: “Shubhasya shiighram, ashubhasya kálaharańam”- Meaning: Whenever you want to do something good, do it immediately. When you want to do something bad, delay, delay, and delay. The teaching is simple, but we often forget to implement it and can only remember it when bad things happen due to our negligence.

Since our Master Unit Ananda Uma is so large (6 hectares) and far from our residence (1.5 hours average by car), we can only go there once a week to take care of the land, and occasionally for various events. For security, a gatekeeper has recently been hired to protect the land. At first, we did not pay attention to the fact that our land lies amid thieves. The thieves have entered four times, cutting electric lines and destroying facilities and the area. Furthermore, neighbors were throwing trash on the land and intruders frequented it for hunting. After every bad occurrence, we took some temporary measures. Even if we knew they were not the best solutions, we hesitated to realize them fully, maybe due to lack of time, funds and motivation. We had forgotten the ancient advice of “Do it immediately when you feel it is good”. But now we have taken thorough actions: approaching neighbors to ask them to stop throwing trash into our land, installing cameras to send alarms of intruders to our cellphones, hiring some workers to keep a frequent watch, having more activities there to populate the land etc. Let’s hope they will be effective in building a good community.

In April a program, Finding the Inner Light, was held at Ananda Uma, for families, by Kamala Allister, where she introduced her new album ‘Treasures’. Through her attractive way of introducing music along with her life stories, and through encouraging everyone to sing along, Kamala has proved that music is a fun and easy way to learn and share Neohumanist ideas for kids and adults, improve meditation practice and mindfulness by accessing the subtler parts of our minds and hearts.

The following day she offered a Program,
“Inner Me – Yoga Workshop” at a nearby English School for children.
