Ánanda Márga Gurukula Headquarters at Anandanagar is highly pleased to welcome the establishment of the long-awaited “Prabhát Saḿgiita International Academy” under the auspices of its Music & Fine Arts Faculty.

Prabhata Samgiita is gaining popularity all over the globe as a revolutionary gharána (style) amidst divergent schools of music. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that even though a single composer composed it, it contains a rich and unique collection of lost ra’ga’s and raginiis, a multitude of folk and contemporary rhythms and a multitude of spiritual and social messages. The four components of songs – bháva, bháśa, sura and chanda – have found fulfillment through the omniscient grace of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiiji.

Prabhát Saḿgiita International Academy (PSIA) has chosen as its mandate to:

  • Undertake research in the hitherto unknown aspects of a treasure-trove bestowed by the founder for the elevation of the human mind. We hope to discover hidden jewels lying buried and scattered in this exquisite collection of 5019 songs.
  • Educate all Prabháta Saḿgiita lovers in correct pronunciation and melodic structures through online and offline seminars, retreats, concerts, and training courses. Prabháta Saḿgiita learning materials will also be prepared for the benefit of keen students.
  • Establish curricula of different levels of certificate courses on Prabhata Samgiita and get them recognized by other educational institutions and certifying agencies.
  • Undertake experiments on the bio-psychological effect of Prabhata Samgiita.
  • Study the impact of Prabhata Samgiita on children and other groups like the elderly and those inflicted by nervous disorders.
  • Establish a system of certifying approved teachers of Prabhata Samgiita through Ánanda Márga Gurukula.
  • Conduct Prabhata Samgiita Competitions around the globe through established chapters and fora like RAWA (Renaissance Artists and Writers Association).

Prabháta Saḿgiita International Academy (PSIA) represents a sweet blending of the world of aesthetics and the world of mysticism. We are confident that PSIA will enhance the quantum of joy, charm and higher sensibilities in both individual and collective life. It will further nurture finer sentiments, neohumanist values, and devotion among the general population too. Let the movement of humanity go beyond the world of material mobility to the world of aesthetics, mysticism, service, blessedness, and universalism.

Samgiita means the combination of vocal music, instrumental music and dance. Prabhát Saḿgiita is indeed a revolution in the world of saḿgiita because it carries an unparalleled depth and variety of emotions lifting us from the inertness of staticity and insatiable sensory pleasures unto the liberating celestial world of devotion, peace and awakening. Respecting the laws of musical jurisprudence, Prabhata Samgiita (PS) is given mostly in one language but it has synthesized many different traditions, melodic structures and expressions. Even the most extinct ragas have been revived. Furthermore, According to Shrii Sarkar, “many new rágas and ráginiis have been invented in PS but have yet to find a name.”

Prabháta Saḿgiita is an antidote to pop-culture (pseudo-culture) and could rescue humanity from falling into depression, negativity, self-centeredness, and materialist culture devoid of spiritual purpose of life. Prabháta Saḿgiita carries the power of gańdharva microvita and brings an unending stream of cosmic grace with it. It could help relieve modern day stress and nervous tensions.

Ánanda Márga Gurukula is indeed highly pleased to support the growth of this institution in every way. Gurukula was established on September 7, 1990 with the mission to “serve humanity with a neohumanist spirit and to acquire knowledge for that purpose.” Its vision is “to create a world where there would be freedom without fear and harmony among all species; where the purchasing power of one and all would be constantly increasing; where morality would be the foundation of personal and social life; where science and technology would be subservient to greater universal welfare; where religion and spirituality would affirm cosmic kinship and rationality; where creativity, imagination, innovation, aesthetics and fine arts would blossom; and where universal love and divinity would reign and prevail.”

Prabhat Samgiita International Academy promises to deliver a blissful world to one and all. I congratulate the Vidya Pratinidhii of Music and Fine Arts faculty and all our supporters for making it possible to establish this institution and pray for its astounding success.
